Thoughts on June Purchases

I hope I'm not getting into a no-buy, splurge, rinse, repeat kind of cycle. I bought things I didn't really need in June. So of course I'm trying to do a replacement-only no buy for July. Sigh. Here's how the June purchases look in hindsight.

~ Point perks: Hourglass lip stylo in "peacemaker" - can't really see it on my lips, it's okay
Boscia Charcoal makeup melter - haven't even used yet
Sol de Janeiro Bum Bum cream - love the travel size I currently have, waiting to open this one
~ Sephora collection green tea eye mask: purchased to get point perks shipped. Haven't used.
~ Drunk Elephant rise + glow duo: this has the B hydra gel and the Vitamin C serum - haven't used these yet
~ Hoola Lite: I really like this and have incorporated it into my regular routine
~ Luxury edition Sephora Play: purchased as a gift for my mom
~ Sephora collection pearl face mask: purchased to get to $25 so I could get a GWP; haven't used yet
~ said GWP: Bumble and Bumble don't blow it for fine hair: of course I also ended up getting this in my Sephora Play box. Good thing I like it! It gives me easy beachy waves.

 Sephora Play for June
~ Tarte tarteguard tinted moisturizer - orange. So orange. Oddly enough, does not match my skin tone. Will destash.
~ Kat von D everlasting liquid lipstick in K-Dub - bright purple. Will destash.
~ Dr Dennis Gross self tanner - I don't self tan. Will destash.
~ Briogeo Curl Charisma - will probably use. haven't yet.
~ Bumble & Bumble don't blow it - the only thing I was looking forward to. and I have 2 of them.
~ Derek Lam 10 Crosby "blackout" perfume sample - haven't used yet.

I cancelled Sephora Play after this box. July will be my last one.

Fingers crossed I can keep up my replacement-only status for July!

December Empties

I finished 7 products in December, including 1 makeup product instead of all skincare! ~ Clinique take the day off cleansing balm sephora sample: It was odorless, and just oily enough to efficiently remove my eye makeup and mascara. Bonus, it didn't irritate my eyes. I got the full size for Christmas, but I'm going to try to make some progress on my Pond's cream before I crack into it. ~ Peter Thomas Roth pumpkin enzyme mask sample: I got the pack of deluxe sizes to try, and this mask took so long to finish, I'd never buy a full size. It smelled just like a pumpkin treat, so I enjoyed using it up in the fall/winter. ~ Too Cool for School egg mellow cream lotion: I used this as my morning moisturizer. It had a faintly sweet-lemon scent, which I enjoyed. The pump was nice, but I didn't know how much I had left until I went to pump it and it was empty :( ~ Clinique Welcome Wednesday deluxe lipstick from Christmas 2015: finally! I loved the brown-pink color, bu...

Fire & Ice Project Pan [Update #1]

The youtubers are uploading their updates, so here I am, tagging along for update #1! I think I had a pretty successful first month. I also used mostly deluxe sized samples, but eh, I'll take the morale boost. ~ Fire item: Firecracker from the Tartelette in Bloom palette. My goal for the first update was to wear down some of the lettering on it, and I made a decent-looking dent in the first few letters! I'm more of a stab my brush in one place until I see the pan kind of person rather than an even use kind of person, so I probably won't wear down the other letters. I've been wearing this as my lid shade for most of the days I wear makeup, so my next goal is to continue doing that. I suspect I might start to get sick of it, so hopefully I'll be able to keep going with it. ~ Ice item: Tarte smooth operator loose setting powder (deluxe sample size). My goal for this update was to be able to make another line to mark my progress. Unfortunately, the way I get the pro...

Healthy Habits Challenge - February 2020

I have the habit of spending too much of my money on makeup, and spending too much of my time browsing for makeup and consuming makeup-related media. To counteract this, I make myself "earn" my makeup budget by doing things that are better for my mental and physical health. Here's how I did for the month of February: Purchases: ~ I bought a birthday gift for a friend at Ulta - does not come out of budget ~ I repurchased my husband some dental floss (does not come out of this budget) at Sephora and got a Bobbi Brown lip gloss as a point perk - $0 ~ I purchased a full size of YSL Libre perfume since I loved the sample so much (giving myself grace on this purchase this month) and got the UD brow enhancer brow gel in "Brunette Betty" on sale (counts as a replacement since I destashed my other brow gel when it went bad) ~ ABH Jackie Aina palette - it was on sale at Sephora - I used a $20 gift card so I spent $14.10 Books read ($1 per 100 pages) ~ Cress  by M...
