Healthy Habits Challenge - November 2019

I have the habit of spending too much of my money on makeup, and spending too much of my time browsing for makeup and consuming makeup-related media. To counteract this, I make myself "earn" my makeup budget by doing things that are better for my mental and physical health. Here's how I did for the month of November:

Purchases:
~ Sephora VIB Rouge sale order: gifts x2 (won't list in case I ruin any surprises), Drunk Elephant C-firma serum set (considering this a replacement, since I just finished one), Replica "by the fireplace" travel size perfume (with the sale $22); Dyson air-wrap styler (hair tools and appliances weren't necessarily required to come out of the budget so I'm going to say it doesn't; suffice it to say I'm set on hair appliances for a good long while)
~ Mario Badescu glycolic foaming cleanser - this was a replacement, so it doesn't come out of the budget (I finally made it through my backstock of cleanser!)

Books read ($1 per 100 pages)
~ Six of Crows by Leigh Bardugo - 466 pages ($4.66)
~ Missing Joseph by Elizabeth George - 594 pages ($5.94)

Exercise ($1 per workout class attended)
~ 11/4/19 - Orange Theory class - $1
~ 11/8/19 - Orange Theory class - $1
~ 11/10/19 - 1hr walk outdoors x2 - $8
~ 11/15/19 - Orange Theory class - $1
~ 11/16/19 - 1hr walk outside - $4
~ 11/20/19 - 1hr walk outside - $4
~ 11/21/19 - exercise class (free, for an event) - $4
~ 11/25/19 - Orange Theory class - $1
~ 11/27/19 - Orange Theory class - $1

Money available to spend: $30.48

I think I'm cutting myself off from non-replacement purchases for the rest of the year. The holiday season is full of enough indulgence (food, time with friends, etc.) and I don't need to add any in the form of shopping. Any shopping I do should be for gifts for others, not myself. At least, that's what I'm going to try to remind myself throughout the next month.

December Empties

I finished 7 products in December, including 1 makeup product instead of all skincare! ~ Clinique take the day off cleansing balm sephora sample: It was odorless, and just oily enough to efficiently remove my eye makeup and mascara. Bonus, it didn't irritate my eyes. I got the full size for Christmas, but I'm going to try to make some progress on my Pond's cream before I crack into it. ~ Peter Thomas Roth pumpkin enzyme mask sample: I got the pack of deluxe sizes to try, and this mask took so long to finish, I'd never buy a full size. It smelled just like a pumpkin treat, so I enjoyed using it up in the fall/winter. ~ Too Cool for School egg mellow cream lotion: I used this as my morning moisturizer. It had a faintly sweet-lemon scent, which I enjoyed. The pump was nice, but I didn't know how much I had left until I went to pump it and it was empty :( ~ Clinique Welcome Wednesday deluxe lipstick from Christmas 2015: finally! I loved the brown-pink color, bu...

Fire & Ice Project Pan [Update #1]

The youtubers are uploading their updates, so here I am, tagging along for update #1! I think I had a pretty successful first month. I also used mostly deluxe sized samples, but eh, I'll take the morale boost. ~ Fire item: Firecracker from the Tartelette in Bloom palette. My goal for the first update was to wear down some of the lettering on it, and I made a decent-looking dent in the first few letters! I'm more of a stab my brush in one place until I see the pan kind of person rather than an even use kind of person, so I probably won't wear down the other letters. I've been wearing this as my lid shade for most of the days I wear makeup, so my next goal is to continue doing that. I suspect I might start to get sick of it, so hopefully I'll be able to keep going with it. ~ Ice item: Tarte smooth operator loose setting powder (deluxe sample size). My goal for this update was to be able to make another line to mark my progress. Unfortunately, the way I get the pro...

Healthy Habits Challenge - February 2020

I have the habit of spending too much of my money on makeup, and spending too much of my time browsing for makeup and consuming makeup-related media. To counteract this, I make myself "earn" my makeup budget by doing things that are better for my mental and physical health. Here's how I did for the month of February: Purchases: ~ I bought a birthday gift for a friend at Ulta - does not come out of budget ~ I repurchased my husband some dental floss (does not come out of this budget) at Sephora and got a Bobbi Brown lip gloss as a point perk - $0 ~ I purchased a full size of YSL Libre perfume since I loved the sample so much (giving myself grace on this purchase this month) and got the UD brow enhancer brow gel in "Brunette Betty" on sale (counts as a replacement since I destashed my other brow gel when it went bad) ~ ABH Jackie Aina palette - it was on sale at Sephora - I used a $20 gift card so I spent $14.10 Books read ($1 per 100 pages) ~ Cress  by M...
