August Empties

I'm actually pretty proud of the products I finished in August! I finished two makeup products I wanted to finish in 2017, and was able to weed out more of the deluxe sized skincare things I'm trying to move out. As per usual, there's a picture below and I'll do mini reviews below that.

Starting from top left:
~ Origins a perfect world eye cream: I liked that this had spf in it, which makes it a decent daytime eye cream. Will probably not repurchase just because it wasn't that special otherwise.
~ Smashbox pore minimizing primer: I feel like this made my face kind of greasy/slippy. I have so many primer samples that I will never need to purchase one intentionally.
~ Viktor & Rolf Flower Bomb sample & card: I like this scent. Its a warm, spicy floral. It just doesn't smell like "me" to me so I probably wouldn't buy a larger size. But I'd totally use another sample if it came my way.
~Tarte Frixxion Stick: this was okay. Went through it way too fast for me to want to repurchase.
~ BareMinerals Marvelous Moxie lipgloss in Stargazer: this layered beautifully over the other lip product I finished and I'm glad it's gone as it's one of my older products.
~ Sunday Riley Good Genes DS: this was a 100-point perk. I would totally grab another sample/point perk, but I'm not entirely convinced this works. At least not enough for the price.
~ Buxom lipstick in Bombay: this had a minty tingle, and was easy to apply because of the shape. Happy to have moved another makeup product out of my collection. Might consider buying another color from this line at some point.
~ Origins Modern Friction: this was a gentle exfoliator with a nice scent. If I ever need to buy an exfoliant I might consider this one.

Bonus pan! new pan in Flower Child in my Tartelette in Bloom. Also a slightly larger pan in Charmer.

That's it for this month!

Healthy Habits Challenge - February 2020

I have the habit of spending too much of my money on makeup, and spending too much of my time browsing for makeup and consuming makeup-related media. To counteract this, I make myself "earn" my makeup budget by doing things that are better for my mental and physical health. Here's how I did for the month of February: Purchases: ~ I bought a birthday gift for a friend at Ulta - does not come out of budget ~ I repurchased my husband some dental floss (does not come out of this budget) at Sephora and got a Bobbi Brown lip gloss as a point perk - $0 ~ I purchased a full size of YSL Libre perfume since I loved the sample so much (giving myself grace on this purchase this month) and got the UD brow enhancer brow gel in "Brunette Betty" on sale (counts as a replacement since I destashed my other brow gel when it went bad) ~ ABH Jackie Aina palette - it was on sale at Sephora - I used a $20 gift card so I spent $14.10 Books read ($1 per 100 pages) ~ Cress  by M...

December Empties

I finished 7 products in December, including 1 makeup product instead of all skincare! ~ Clinique take the day off cleansing balm sephora sample: It was odorless, and just oily enough to efficiently remove my eye makeup and mascara. Bonus, it didn't irritate my eyes. I got the full size for Christmas, but I'm going to try to make some progress on my Pond's cream before I crack into it. ~ Peter Thomas Roth pumpkin enzyme mask sample: I got the pack of deluxe sizes to try, and this mask took so long to finish, I'd never buy a full size. It smelled just like a pumpkin treat, so I enjoyed using it up in the fall/winter. ~ Too Cool for School egg mellow cream lotion: I used this as my morning moisturizer. It had a faintly sweet-lemon scent, which I enjoyed. The pump was nice, but I didn't know how much I had left until I went to pump it and it was empty :( ~ Clinique Welcome Wednesday deluxe lipstick from Christmas 2015: finally! I loved the brown-pink color, bu...

A Rambly Intro

"Come on, girl! You only have one face!" It's what I tell myself when I start aimlessly shopping for makeup. In the last year, I developed a bit of a shopping addiction, specifically makeup shopping.Writing a blog is my effort to keep myself accountable to start focusing less on buying. I'm going to focus more on using, first and foremost, and then on adding thoughtfully to my makeup wardrobe. This blog is most likely going to be my online makeup-focused diary. I don't have that many people to discuss this with in real life. And somehow posting a blog feels more anonymous than posting on reddit. (If you're interested in any makeup/usage discussion, head to r/makeuprehab or r/muacjdiscussion - some of those subreddit themes will likely influence my ramblings.) Here's a bit what to expect from me: empties posts, reviews, and random thoughts. The word "haul" is dangerous for me, but I might occasionally talk about items I've purchased recent...
