Weekly Makeup Basket - December 23, 2018

This is my "free for all week" before I jump back into project pan items next week. Unfortunately, I worked Christmas this year (I'm a nurse, so holidays and weekends off are not a guaranteed thing). This picture is also a look at how my makeup basket normally looks before I spruce it up for the weekly photo. Base products: ~ Lancome teint idole "90 Ivore" - surprisingly too light on me. It was a near perfect match when I tried it on in Ulta, which makes me very wary of their lighting now. Luckily I only got a sample. ~ Drunk Elephant D-Bronzi sample - used for mixing with the foundation, and it's been working pretty well so far. ~ Tatcha silk canvas primer ~ L'Oreal Magic Lumi highlighter pen "860 Fair" - I use this as an under-eye concealer ~ Mac Fix+ - not a great setting spray, but decent for foiling eyeshadow ~ Cover FX perfect setting powder "Translucent Light" Face products: ~ Benefit Hoola Lite bronzer ~ NARS bl

6 by Spring Project Pan Intro

Wait, didn't you just do a "6 by Something" project pan? Yep. And I'm doing it again. This is one of the more traditional seasonal project pans I've seen, and six products seemed like a good number for me from the last project (update coming soon). I first got into the makeup community about three years ago in the winter/spring and some of my original loved products are starting to age. I want to use this product to show some love to the older products in my collection. Thus you may see more progress than actual panning throughout this project. I'll start with a picture of all the products together, then I'll get into my goals for each of them. Seeing them all together, there's a lot of pinky-neutral in here. Hopefully that'll make this extra-usable.  ~ Tarte Tartelette in Bloom: this was my first mid-range eyeshadow palette. I purchased it when I was still in college, so it was very high-end for me at the time. Now it's kind of me

Weekly Makeup Basket - December 16, 2018

I've missed a few weeks due to travel and generally prioritizing other things. Anyway, here's what I'm using this week! You may notice that some of my Finish 6 by Christmas products are missing - yay! Looking forward to posting that update next week. Base products: ~ Dr Jart+ BB cream ~ Cover FX Power Play concealer "P Light 2" ~ Laura Mercier radiance primer ~ Too Faced Peach Mist ~ Tarte Smooth Operator setting powder Face products: ~ Becca highlighter "Moonstone" ~ NARS blush "deep throat" ~ Benefit Hoola Lite bronzer Eye products: ~ Lorac eye primer ~ Colourpop Yes Please palette - I put this in the basket this week to decide if I still wanted to keep it, and so far I've really been enjoying the looks I've created with this. ~ Clinique pretty easy eyeliner "black" ~ UD waterline eyeliner "walk of shame" ~ L'Oreal eyeliner "highlight" ~ Estee Lauder mascara Brow products: ~ A

Makeup Inventory - December 2018 (this time with pictures!)

Quite a few of the beauty Youtubers I watch have announced no-buys or low-buys for the coming year. After taking these pictures, I'm starting to wonder if I should do the same. My Healthy Habits Challenge has certainly started to get my spending a little more under control, and it has definitely helped balance my life and hobbies. But I still have so much darn makeup. Maybe not in comparison to people who review or apply cosmetics for a living, but a lot more than, say, my mom who has one, maybe two bathroom drawers of assorted goods and tools. It has likely been clear since I started this blog that I am not a professional, merely an enthusiast with a spending problem. Onto the pictures! I split it up into categories, and I'll include tallies, but I won't go into each and every shade I have. Ain't nobody got time for that. I also didn't include foil samples, but deluxe and travel sizes are included. ~ Eye primer - 1 - starting off strong ~ Face primer - 4 -

November 2018 Empties

Another small round-up for this month. I'm still making an effort to work through my samples, and that's going well! ~ YSL Black Opium sample - yes, I still have these. Still enjoying making my way through using these up. ~ Juliette Has A Gun "Another Oud" - This smells like a fancy cigar and had pretty good lasting power. I enjoyed the sample but probably would not purchase a larger size. I don't really want to be known for smelling like a cigar. ~ Cristophe Robin purifying shampoo - Since my recent move, my hair has been a greasy mess (I think it hates the water in my new home state). This shampoo has been a lifesaver - my hair feels like normal hair again! I've already purchased a full size. ~ Too Faced Hangover Rx primer - finished as part of my project pan, didn't like this, wouldn't buy this. ~ Erborian CC cream "fair" - It was pretty nice, but didn't have a lot of coverage (as expected). If I ever want another CC cream it

Finish 6 by Christmas - update #2

I'm excited about the progress I made over the past month! I'll review my goals, and we'll get into it. 1 ~ finish Bite "Pepper" 2 ~ hit pan on Colourpop "Fluffy" 3 ~ hit pan on "Bronx" in the ABH Master Palette by Mario 4 ~ finish Buxom lipgloss "Dolly" 5 ~ finish L'Oreal eyeliner "highlight" 6 ~ finish Too Faced Hangover Rx primer sample 1 ~ "Pepper" - Please excuse my janky line for this month, I was trying not to nick the little lipstick nubbin with my pen. Either way, I'm getting closer to finishing this one! I've been wearing it every morning, even if I end up wanting to wear a different color later in the day. 2 ~ "Fluffy" - I hit pan! I bought this around Christmas last year, and it's starting to get a little flaky. I'm going to continue using it, but I'm now satisfied with how much use I got out of it. 3 ~ "Bronx" - Comparing this to the pictur

Weekly Makeup Basket - November 25, 2018

I'm trying out a few new things this week, which has been a fun contrast from my Project Pan items each week.   Base products: ~ L'Oreal infallible pro matte foundation "101 classic ivory" ~ Becca velvet blurring primer - new item, not sure about its' blurring abilities, but it has been giving my skin a nice texture before applying foundation. It's straight liquid though, and I was not prepared for the force of the pump. My desk was also not prepared. RIP November desk calendar. ~ NARS radiant creamy concealer "light 2 vanilla" ~ Too Faced Peach Mist setting spray ~ L'Oreal infallible pro matte setting powder "100 porcelain" - another new product. This has done a really nice job of keeping me matte during the day. Which is what you would expect, given the name of the line. Since I've been breaking out a bit lately, it's also been nice to have a little extra coverage. Face products: ~ NARS blush "Orgasm

Weekly Makeup Basket - November 18, 2018

Base products: ~ Bobbi Brown skin foundation stick "00 Alabaster" - this is a new product for me, and so far I need to apply 2 layers to get the coverage I want and it still has a more natural finish. So it's been nice for everyday makeup, but I probably wouldn't use it for events. ~ Cover FX power play concealer "P Light 2" ~ Hourglass veil mineral primer sample ~ Urban Decay all nighter setting spray ~ Tarte smooth operator setting powder Face products: ~ Laura Geller highlight "French Vanilla/Portofino" ~ Revlon blush "Naughty Nude" ~ Benefit Hoola Lite bronzer Eye products ~ Urban Decay Naked palette ~ Lorac eye primer ~ Urban Decay waterline liner "Walk of Shame" ~ Clinique pretty easy eye liner ~ L'Oreal eye liner "highlight" ~ Estee Lauder mascara Brow products: ~ ABH brow definer "medium brown" ~ ABH tinted brow gel "espresso" Lip pro

Weekly Makeup Basket - November 11, 2018

Thanks to my project pan, these baskets are starting to look really similar. The good news is, I still haven't gotten bored with my stash. Base products: ~ Fenty foundation "120" ~ NARS radiant creamy concealer "light 2 vanilla" ~ Fenty pro filtr primer ~ Cover FX perfect setting powder "translucent light" ~ Too Faced peach mist setting spray Face products: ~ Bite multistick "Gelato" ~ Benefit Hoola Lite bronzer ~ Laura Mercier matte radiance baked highlight ~ Benefit Watts Up Eye products: ~ Tarte tartelette in bloom ~ ABH Master Palette by Mario ~ Lorac eye primer ~ Stila stay all day eyeliner "intense black" ~ UD waterline liner "walk of shame" ~ L'Oreal eyeliner "highlight" ~ NYX eyeliner "Golden Olive" ~ Estee Lauder mascara Brow products: ~ ABH brow wiz "medium brown" ~ Benefit gimme brow "3" Lip products: ~ Buxom lipgloss "Dolly"

Weekly Makeup Basket - November 4, 2018

I finished both of the BB cream samples I was using this week before I took the picture - I used the Laura Mercier oil-free tinted moisturizer and the Erborian CC cream. Please excuse the messy desk this week! October 2018 Empties

October was a slightly leaner month in terms of empties. I suspect it's because I'm now pretty settled into my new home and thus have less motivation to move things out of my collection. Let's dive in. ~ Living Proof Perfect Hair Day conditioner - Hated this. It left my hair with a disgusting greasy film that I couldn't get off without a deep clean treatment at the salon. The fact that my hair doesn't get along with the water in my new house didn't help, I'm sure. I used this up as shaving cream, and I wouldn't repurchase it. ~ Clinique Moisture Surge - I liked that this is a gel moisturizer, but I think it provides a little more moisture than I really need with my oily skin. Wouldn't repurchase. ~ Algenist genius ultimate anti-aging melting cleanser - This smelled like plastic (like expensive, Barbie doll plastic, but still plastic) and left a film on my skin. I also don't think I really need an anti-aging cleanser at this stage of my l

Finish 6 by Christmas - update #1

You can check out the intro post for a picture of the whole family (of products) together, but here's a quick refresher on my plan for this project: 1 ~ finish Bite "Pepper" 2 ~ hit pan on Colourpop "Fluffy" 3 ~ hit pan on "Bronx" in the ABH Master Palette by Mario 4 ~ finish Buxom "Dolly" 5 ~ finish L'Oreal eyeliner "highlight" 6 ~ finish Too Faced Hangover primer 1 ~ "Pepper" - I'm excited about the amount of progress I made on this one! It's easy to reapply and looks good even without a full face of makeup. I don't think I'll be done by the next update, but I'm hoping for a similar amount of progress. 2 ~ "Fluffy" - I can't see too much progress on this one, which is disappointing since I've been using this pretty much every day I do eye makeup. I have to be close, judging on the other Super Shock shadow I already have pan on. I'm hoping to have hit pan by nex

Weekly Makeup Basket - October 28, 2018

I came down with my first cold of the season last week, so I didn't wear makeup. So even though I picked it out for last week, I just rolled it over to this week. It's a very "panning" basket, so I apologize if things are getting repetitive. I'll update the project pan soon! Base products: ~ Too Faced HangoveRx primer ~ L'Oreal pro matte foundation (101 - classic ivory) ~ Cover FX power play concealer (P light 2) ~ Cover FX translucent setting powder (light) ~ Too Faced peach mist setting spray Face products: ~ Becca shimmering skin perfector pressed (Moonstone) ~ Wet n Wild blush (Mellow Wine) ~ Benefit Hoola Lite bronzer ~ Benefit Watts Up Eye products: ~ ABH Master Palette by Mario ~ Tarte Tartelette in Bloom ~ Lorac eyeshadow primer ~ Colourpop super shock shadow (Fluffy) ~ Stila Stay all day liner ~ UD waterline liner (walk of shame) ~ L'Oreal liner (highlight) ~ NYX liner (golden olive) ~ Estee Lauder mascara Eyebrow pr

Weekly Makeup Basket - October 14, 2018

Because I have two large palettes, this basket looks a little more sparse than previous weeks' baskets. Base products: ~ Too Faced HangoveRx primer  ~ Fenty foundation "120" ~ NARS radiant creamy concealer "Vanilla" ~ UD All Nighter setting spray Face products: ~ Hourglass Ambient Lighting Edit Volume 4 - this has finishing powder, highlight, blush, and bronzer so it's the main space-saver this week. ~ Benefit Watts Up Eye products: ~ Lorac Mega Pro 3 - it's the huge, dirty, white palette - that's how you can tell I actually enjoy using it! I find the colors to be perfect for warm fall looks. ~ Lorac eye primer ~ L'Oreal eyeliner "highlight" ~ UD eyeliner "walk of shame" ~ Clinique pretty easy eyeliner ~ Colourpop supershock shadow "Fluffy" ~ Estee Lauder mascara Brow products: ~ ABH brow definer "Medium Brown" ~ ABH tinted brow gel "Espresso" L

Finish 6 by Christmas - Intro

One of the Youtubers I watch regularly, LuciaTepperBeauty, is doing this as a collab, and I want to join in. I'm not at all part of the official collab, I just wanted to give credit as I follow along from my little corner of internet. Here's a pic of the whole group, then I'll go through where I stand on all of them individually. 1. I've been working on my ABH Master Palette by Mario all year, but I want to focus on "Bronx" through the end of the year. It's the only shimmer I've worked on in this palette that doesn't yet have pan, and I think it's a great fall color. My goal is just to hit pan on this shade. 2. Buxom mini gloss "Dolly" - I think I can finish this little guy. 3. Colourpop supershock shadow "Fluffy" - I bought this around Christmas last year, so it's starting to get older, and kind of flaky. I'd like to see pan on this by the end of the project. 4. L'Oreal liner "highlight&q
