February 2018 Empties

I have a couple products in here I'm particularly proud to have finished up. It was a very productive month considering it was the shortest!

Clockwise from top left:

~ Marc Jacobs "Decadence" and "Divine Decadence" foil sample card - I honestly can't tell the difference between these two scents, but I do like them. They had a sweet, slightly floral scent. The fiance isn't the biggest fan though, so I would not purchase a larger size.
~ YSL "Mon Paris" sample - I thought I would like this more than I did. It's also a sweet floral, but once on my skin it started to smell more powdery and chemical-y. Would not purchase.
~ Elizabeth and James "Nirvana Black" DS rollerball - I've had this for a while, and I think it started to go off on me. It's a warm and spicy scent that I used to enjoy more. Might repurchase.
~ Too Faced lip injection glossy "Milkshake" - This was a surprise love from last February's Sephora Play box. It was slightly tingly, and the color was a shimmery warm beige? It sounds odd, but it was flattering. I might purchase this once I have space for another lipgloss.
~ Sephora Collection avocado eye mask - Meh. I occasionally get these to get my point perks sent to me, and I'll likely continue to do so. Didn't do anything special, but the eye mask experience was relaxing.
~ Smashbox photo finish foundation primer - Another one. Still like it, still have some of a DS left.
~ Lancome la base pro hydra glow (x2) - This came out pink, which I was not expecting. It applied really smoothly, and may or may not have had a smoothing effect on my skin. Overall, not super special on me. Would not purchase.
~ Coola daydream mineral primer (SPF 30) - I applied this as both sunscreen and primer. It felt a little oily when I first put it on, but it dried down to a slightly powdery finish. No issues applying makeup over it. Would purchase in a larger size at some point.
~ Glamglow moisturizer "nude glow" - 2/2 finally done. Still a nope from me.
~ Fresh sugar advanced therapy lip balm - My fiance and I used this before going to sleep. It's both hydrating and light on the lips. I think the price has increased since I first purchased this, but I would still repurchase.
~ ABH clear brow gel - This thing lasted me about a year of solid use. I'm currently using a DS of this, and I would consider repurchasing after that's done. I might want to try another kind first.
~ ABH brush #7 - How can a brush be empty? Feel this brush. It has 1.5 years of brow powder and eyebrow grease that WILL NOT come out. It was time. I repurchased a #7B, and will actually clean this one regularly.

BONUS: I hit pan on "funny girl" from my Tartelette in Bloom. I've been using this as my inner corner highlight and I've been loving it. I promise there's actually a speck of pan in there. It's just hard to see because the shadow itself is also reflective.

Healthy Habits Challenge - February 2020

I have the habit of spending too much of my money on makeup, and spending too much of my time browsing for makeup and consuming makeup-related media. To counteract this, I make myself "earn" my makeup budget by doing things that are better for my mental and physical health. Here's how I did for the month of February: Purchases: ~ I bought a birthday gift for a friend at Ulta - does not come out of budget ~ I repurchased my husband some dental floss (does not come out of this budget) at Sephora and got a Bobbi Brown lip gloss as a point perk - $0 ~ I purchased a full size of YSL Libre perfume since I loved the sample so much (giving myself grace on this purchase this month) and got the UD brow enhancer brow gel in "Brunette Betty" on sale (counts as a replacement since I destashed my other brow gel when it went bad) ~ ABH Jackie Aina palette - it was on sale at Sephora - I used a $20 gift card so I spent $14.10 Books read ($1 per 100 pages) ~ Cress  by M...

December Empties

I finished 7 products in December, including 1 makeup product instead of all skincare! ~ Clinique take the day off cleansing balm sephora sample: It was odorless, and just oily enough to efficiently remove my eye makeup and mascara. Bonus, it didn't irritate my eyes. I got the full size for Christmas, but I'm going to try to make some progress on my Pond's cream before I crack into it. ~ Peter Thomas Roth pumpkin enzyme mask sample: I got the pack of deluxe sizes to try, and this mask took so long to finish, I'd never buy a full size. It smelled just like a pumpkin treat, so I enjoyed using it up in the fall/winter. ~ Too Cool for School egg mellow cream lotion: I used this as my morning moisturizer. It had a faintly sweet-lemon scent, which I enjoyed. The pump was nice, but I didn't know how much I had left until I went to pump it and it was empty :( ~ Clinique Welcome Wednesday deluxe lipstick from Christmas 2015: finally! I loved the brown-pink color, bu...

A Rambly Intro

"Come on, girl! You only have one face!" It's what I tell myself when I start aimlessly shopping for makeup. In the last year, I developed a bit of a shopping addiction, specifically makeup shopping.Writing a blog is my effort to keep myself accountable to start focusing less on buying. I'm going to focus more on using, first and foremost, and then on adding thoughtfully to my makeup wardrobe. This blog is most likely going to be my online makeup-focused diary. I don't have that many people to discuss this with in real life. And somehow posting a blog feels more anonymous than posting on reddit. (If you're interested in any makeup/usage discussion, head to r/makeuprehab or r/muacjdiscussion - some of those subreddit themes will likely influence my ramblings.) Here's a bit what to expect from me: empties posts, reviews, and random thoughts. The word "haul" is dangerous for me, but I might occasionally talk about items I've purchased recent...
