October Empties

Starting with the Fresh packets, going clockwise:

~Fresh soy face cleanser (foil sample): Meh. It was an okay cleanser, but I wasn't the biggest fan of the smell. I have a larger deluxe sample from the Sephora birthday gift to use up too...
~Fresh lotus youth preserve face cream (foil sample): This felt nice going on at night, but I usually woke up feeling oily, so I would not purchase a full size of this.
~Clinique liquid face soap (deluxe sample): I think this was the dry skin version, and I have combination/oily skin. It was fine, and I liked that it smelled like sleepytime tea. I would probably not purchase a full size.
~Sephora outrageous volume mascara: I was able to use this for 4 months before it started looking clumpy. I really liked it at the beginning though! I would consider repurchasing once I work through my mascara samples.
~Elizabeth and James Nirvana Black (Sephora sample): I love the dark, spicy, amber scent of this perfume. I have a Sephora favorites set with this in it, that I'll use next. I also plan to use the full-size perfume voucher to get the full size of this.
~Lush lotion sample: I think this was "healing hands"? It was moisturizing as a hand cream, but I think it's a bit too thick for what I like to use every day.
~Clinique eye serum (deluxe sample): I enjoyed using this at night, since I usually wake up with dry eye skin. I would consider repurchasing after I use up my backup samples of other eye creams.
~Boscia pore pudding (Sephora sample): My skin felt really soft and smooth after using this mask. It's one of the few masks I'd consider repurchasing. Again, after I use up some of my other samples.

How I did on my goals:

~I did finish Nirvana Black!
~I just barely made my goal of using 1/3 of Very Hollywood. It smells like gardenias, which I think I'll enjoy more in the spring and summer. I'll put it aside for later now that I've met my goal.
~Still working on that Clinique lipstick - it's my work lipstick now, but it's the little nub that will not give up.
~oh, yes. All the samples. Mostly skincare, but I'll take it.

November goals:
~Finish my samples of Atelier Sud Magnolia and Elizabeth & James Nirvana Bourbon.
~Finish Clinique Welcome Wednesday lipstick.
~Paint my nails at least once a week.

Bonus pan!
Its a tiny little spot right in the middle of that dip. It's "white" from the Lorac Pro 1 palette. I use it as my base shade to set my eye primer. It's my first eyeshadow pan!

Healthy Habits Challenge - February 2020

I have the habit of spending too much of my money on makeup, and spending too much of my time browsing for makeup and consuming makeup-related media. To counteract this, I make myself "earn" my makeup budget by doing things that are better for my mental and physical health. Here's how I did for the month of February: Purchases: ~ I bought a birthday gift for a friend at Ulta - does not come out of budget ~ I repurchased my husband some dental floss (does not come out of this budget) at Sephora and got a Bobbi Brown lip gloss as a point perk - $0 ~ I purchased a full size of YSL Libre perfume since I loved the sample so much (giving myself grace on this purchase this month) and got the UD brow enhancer brow gel in "Brunette Betty" on sale (counts as a replacement since I destashed my other brow gel when it went bad) ~ ABH Jackie Aina palette - it was on sale at Sephora - I used a $20 gift card so I spent $14.10 Books read ($1 per 100 pages) ~ Cress  by M...

December Empties

I finished 7 products in December, including 1 makeup product instead of all skincare! ~ Clinique take the day off cleansing balm sephora sample: It was odorless, and just oily enough to efficiently remove my eye makeup and mascara. Bonus, it didn't irritate my eyes. I got the full size for Christmas, but I'm going to try to make some progress on my Pond's cream before I crack into it. ~ Peter Thomas Roth pumpkin enzyme mask sample: I got the pack of deluxe sizes to try, and this mask took so long to finish, I'd never buy a full size. It smelled just like a pumpkin treat, so I enjoyed using it up in the fall/winter. ~ Too Cool for School egg mellow cream lotion: I used this as my morning moisturizer. It had a faintly sweet-lemon scent, which I enjoyed. The pump was nice, but I didn't know how much I had left until I went to pump it and it was empty :( ~ Clinique Welcome Wednesday deluxe lipstick from Christmas 2015: finally! I loved the brown-pink color, bu...

A Rambly Intro

"Come on, girl! You only have one face!" It's what I tell myself when I start aimlessly shopping for makeup. In the last year, I developed a bit of a shopping addiction, specifically makeup shopping.Writing a blog is my effort to keep myself accountable to start focusing less on buying. I'm going to focus more on using, first and foremost, and then on adding thoughtfully to my makeup wardrobe. This blog is most likely going to be my online makeup-focused diary. I don't have that many people to discuss this with in real life. And somehow posting a blog feels more anonymous than posting on reddit. (If you're interested in any makeup/usage discussion, head to r/makeuprehab or r/muacjdiscussion - some of those subreddit themes will likely influence my ramblings.) Here's a bit what to expect from me: empties posts, reviews, and random thoughts. The word "haul" is dangerous for me, but I might occasionally talk about items I've purchased recent...
