Reading Challenge December 2017

I'm going to try out an incentive system for buying makeup products. For every 100 pages I read, I get $1 towards non-replacement purchases. So far, I'm starting in the negatives. My fiance has also issued a bonus challenge - he'll give me $3 for every mile I run. For my current fitness abilities, I'm doing $3 per mile exercised (I'm currently working off of a walk/run interval program). Hopefully, I'll be able to replace buying makeup with more fulfilling hobbies.

Purchases:
~ Anastasia Beverly Hills 7B eyebrow brush: I got this with my December Sephora coupon. The other item was a gift, so it won't be included in the total; also it was for a Secret Santa with a $25 limit, so assuming the other one was $25, this is the balance: $3.43
~ Becca Rose Quartz highlight: I really wanted this last year, but held out and regretted it. So when it came back recently, I just got it. With tax, it was $40.01
~ Algenist Genius Sampler Set: I've gotten a few foil samples and have wanted to try more of this line. I also had a 20% off coupon and wanted to hit Platinum at Ulta (which I did with this purchase). I'm a little bit ashamed of this one, I have to admit. I spent $63.18 on this - that's a lot of reading.

Books:
~ Saints for All Occasions by J. Courtney Sullivan - 335 pages
The Christmas Box by Richard Paul Evans - 125 pages
~ The Mistletoe Inn by Richard Paul Evans - 300 pages
~ The Mistletoe Secret by Richard Paul Evans - 306 pages
~ The Mistletoe Promise  by Richard Paul Evans - 251 pages
~ The Essex Serpent by Sarah Perry - 311 pages (I didn't finish this book since it was due back at the library and I just didn't like it enough, but that's how much I did read before returning it.)
~ The Dazzling Heights  by Katharine McGee - 422 pages
~ Eligible by Curtis Sittenfeld - 488 pages

Bonus challenge: Exercise - for every mile I run, I get $3 towards the above purchases
~ 12/12/17 - 2 miles
~ 12/28/17 - 2 miles

Total spent: $106.62
Total read: 2538 pages
Total run: 4 miles ($12)
How am I doing? -$69.24 or -6924 pages

Darn it.

December 2018 Empties

Y'all. This month looks pitiful compared to past months. I suspect it's because I've mainly been using full-sized skincare so I'm not blazing through as much as I have been. ~ It cosmetics secret sauce moisturizer sample - was a little too much for my oily skin. would not repurchase. ~ Mario Badescu herbal rehydrating serum sample set - this was a gel moisturizer, so it's no surprise that I liked this one. Might try it again in the future, but I have a lot of moisturizer to go through first. ~ 2 Sephora samples of Commodity Gold perfume - this is a warm, sweet scent that I really enjoy and I currently have a travel-size spray. ~ Living Proof perfect hair day shampoo - if you remember when I finished the conditioner, you'll recall that I hated this pair of shampoo and conditioner and I used it up as a shaving cream. Would not repurchase. ~ Estee Lauder sumptuous infinite mascara - this has a plastic bristle brush, which I normally don't like, but...

Empties - June 2019

This past month, I came for my skincare foil samples with a vengeance. So this empties is, as always, mostly skincare with a little bit of makeup and haircare. ~ Exuviance performance peel - This is a two step kind of deal with an activated pad and a neutralizer pad. This sample contained one use, and I didn't see much of a change. I'm also in my 20s and am probably not the target audience. Wouldn't repurchase at this time. ~ boscia Clarifying Detox mask - Clay mask that dries on your face - meh. My skin felt maybe a little cleaner, but no other improvements. It was nice to use, but I probably wouldn't buy this again. I bought it at TJ Maxx a while ago, so goodness knows how old it is. ~ Mango Coconut Guava lotion - I have two sets of mini lotions like this from my family. So you can expect to see more little bottles like this. It smelled nice and has a thin texture, which is nice for the summer. I have seven more of these, so no need to repurchase anything righ...

Pan that Palette 2018 Finale

My goal for 2018 was to pan the Anastasia Beverly Hills Master Palette by Mario. It's a limited edition palette from Christmas 2016, and it was a gift from my fiance (now husband). Since it's LE, I was hesitant to use particular colors and, to be honest, the palette as a whole - what if I run out and can't use it again?! Once you see my year-end progress, it will become clear that those fears were completely unfounded. Here's where I started the year: You can see some nice dips, and there are clearly shades I enjoy. There are no pans. Here's how I ended the year (please excuse the lighting): Over the course of the year I hit pan on: NYC, Kim, Muse, Marina, Lula, 5th Ave, Bronx, and Paris. I didn't have any goals for using Hollywood or Claudia. I didn't make much visible progress on Isabel or Violeta. A few notes about my makeup usage habits - I work three 12-hour shifts a week as a nurse. At the start of the year, I worked night shif...
