Healthy Habits Challenge - July 2018

I'm restructuring how I'm setting this up, partly due to my lagging motivation once I fell too far behind. So bear with me as I make some changes. If you have any suggestions, let me know!

Recap: I'm trying to cut down on my makeup spending as a hobby, and starting to focus more on hobbies and habits that are better for me. I give myself money towards makeup spending (ratios in parentheses below) for each good habit I'm trying to form.

Purchases:
~ I bought the Nars powermatte liquid lipstick in "Don't Stop", described as a geranium red. I won't count it towards my totals since I used a gift card. I just wanted to include it here so I can own up to not finishing No Buy July (I bought it on the 30th, whoops). There's been some moving drama, and some kind friends got me a Sephora gift card for some self-love - long story short, I don't feel bad about this purchase.

Books read ($1 per 100 pages)
~ Salt to the Sea by Ruta Sepetys - 400 pages ($4)
~ Grey by EL James - 561 pages ($5.61)
~ A Wrinkle in Time by Madeleine L'Engle - 204 pages ($2.04)
~ Cowboy Pride by Lacy Williams - 248 pages ($2.48) - yes, it's a Wild West version of Pride and Prejudice, and no, I'm not sorry.

Fire & Ice Project Pan [Update #1]

 The youtubers are uploading their updates, so here I am, tagging along for update #1! I think I had a pretty successful first month. I also used mostly deluxe sized samples, but eh, I'll take the morale boost. ~ Fire item: Firecracker from the Tartelette in Bloom palette. My goal for the first update was to wear down some of the lettering on it, and I made a decent-looking dent in the first few letters! I'm more of a stab my brush in one place until I see the pan kind of person rather than an even use kind of person, so I probably won't wear down the other letters. I've been wearing this as my lid shade for most of the days I wear makeup, so my next goal is to continue doing that. December Empties

I finished 7 products in December, including 1 makeup product instead of all skincare! ~ Clinique take the day off cleansing balm sephora sample: It was odorless, and just oily enough to efficiently remove my eye makeup and mascara. Bonus, it didn't irritate my eyes. I got the full size for Christmas, but I'm going to try to make some progress on my Pond's cream before I crack into it. ~ Peter Thomas Roth pumpkin enzyme mask sample: I got the pack of deluxe sizes to try, and this mask took so long to finish, I'd never buy a full size. It smelled just like a pumpkin treat, so I enjoyed using it up in the fall/winter. ~ Too Cool for School egg mellow cream lotion: I used this as my morning moisturizer. It had a faintly sweet-lemon scent, which I enjoyed. The pump was nice, but I didn't know how much I had left until I went to pump it and it was empty :( ~ Clinique Welcome Wednesday deluxe lipstick from Christmas 2015: finally! November 2017 Empties

I'm happy with my skincare progress this past month. My system for using up perfume samples is also still going well, even though the darn things keep coming in. Per usual, here's a picture to be followed by mini-reviews and thoughts: ~ Stella McCartney sample card - I remember this as being a nice floral. Something I would use a sample of, but not necessarily buy. ~ J'Adore by Dior sample card - this smells like perfume to me. I couldn't really discern any specific notes. That said, it smells nice. I probably would not purchase this, partly because it doesn't come in a rollerball. ~ Elizabeth & James Nirvana Amethyst sample - The tobacco flower notes made me smell a bit like a smoker. A powdery smoker. Would not purchase. ~ Josie Maran finishing balm - will discuss in project pan update ~ Urban Decay "Stark Naked" - will discuss in project pan update ~ Maybelline FitMe concealer in 15/fair - This grew on me.
