Healthy Habits Challenge - February 2020

I have the habit of spending too much of my money on makeup, and spending too much of my time browsing for makeup and consuming makeup-related media. To counteract this, I make myself "earn" my makeup budget by doing things that are better for my mental and physical health. Here's how I did for the month of February: Purchases: ~ I bought a birthday gift for a friend at Ulta - does not come out of budget ~ I repurchased my husband some dental floss (does not come out of this budget) at Sephora and got a Bobbi Brown lip gloss as a point perk - $0 ~ I purchased a full size of YSL Libre perfume since I loved the sample so much (giving myself grace on this purchase this month) and got the UD brow enhancer brow gel in "Brunette Betty" on sale (counts as a replacement since I destashed my other brow gel when it went bad) ~ ABH Jackie Aina palette - it was on sale at Sephora - I used a $20 gift card so I spent $14.10 Books read ($1 per 100 pages) ~ Cress  by M

Healthy Habits Challenge - January 2020

I have the habit of spending too much of my money on makeup, and spending too much of my time browsing for makeup and consuming makeup-related media. To counteract this, I make myself "earn" my makeup budget by doing things that are better for my mental and physical health. Here's how I did for the month of January: Purchases: ~ I impulse-purchased a nail polish at the grocery store - $5 ~ Too Faced Sparkling Pineapple eyeshadow palette - another Marshall's find - $15 ~ Pacifica nail polish "Abalone" - I had a coupon at Ulta - $7 Books read ($1 per 100 pages) ~ Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone  - 322 pages ($3.22) Exercise ($1 per workout class attended or $4 per hour of other exercise) ~ 1/2/20 - Orange Theory class - $1 ~ 1/3/20 - Orange Theory class - $1 ~ 1/6/20 - Orange Theory class - $1 ~ 1/8/20 - Orange Theory class - $1 ~ 1/10/20 - Orange Theory class - $1 ~ 1/13/20 - Orange Theory class - $1 ~ 1/15/20 - Orange Theory class

Empties - December 2019

Volume-wise, December was a little lackluster. However, I'm happy with the amount of makeup I was able to finish off (as opposed to a million little skincare samples). ~ Jesse's Girl liquid liner "Black" - This is a brush-tip liner, which is my preferred application. Not as smooth as my favorite Clinique liner, but it did the job. ~ Anastasia Beverly Hills brow definer "Medium Brown" - I'm not sure if I prefer the thicker pencil or the brow wiz, but I definitely had power brows when I used this one. I'm not opposed to getting another in the future. Honestly, it just depends on which pencils are on sale during the Ulta 21 Days of Beauty. ~ Smashbox Primerizer sample - Okay moisturizer, but not a great primer for my oily skin. Would not purchase. ~ Kat von D Saint perfume sample - Very similar to Marc Jacobs "Daisy" which I already own. I have way too much perfume already, and I no longer purchase from Kat von D, otherwise I would

Go For The Goal - Project Pan Intro

For 2020, I'm going to jump on the bandwagon and try to do a year-long project pan. If you've read my previous "yearly goal" type posts, you'll know that I tend to do pretty much anything other than what I say I'll do in my goals post. So I'm going to ease into it. I recently joined the Pantastic Ladies Collab group on Facebook, and they're doing a "Go for the Goal" project pan this year. Here's the official description: This project is solely to reach a predetermined goal for any product in your collection. Start with 4-6 products and once you hit goal on that item, roll it out and roll in a new item to work on. This is designed to make progress on your progress without the stress of trying to finish anything. You can mark the halfway/quarter/etc point and work towards that goal or whatever goal works best for you. This is a way to rotate through all of your products and give them all the love they deserve. I'm starting with 5

Healthy Habits Challenge - December 2019

I have the habit of spending too much of my money on makeup, and spending too much of my time browsing for makeup and consuming makeup-related media. To counteract this, I make myself "earn" my makeup budget by doing things that are better for my mental and physical health. Here's how I did for the month of December: Purchases: ~ Bite Beauty mini lipstick set - $10 (on sale!) ~ Buxom lipgloss "Kir Royale" (my cat stole the other one I had) and ImPress press-on nails - $24 ~ I used my Ulta points and a 20% off coupon for a Christmas Eve purchase - Anastasia Beverly Hills Carli Bybel palette, Cover FX bronzer & highlight duo (that came w/ a GWP), an eyeshadow palette for my mom (that I won't name here so it will stay a surprise), Too Faced Better Than Sex eyeliner, 2 of my husband's shampoos, and 1 conditioner for my husband. - $7.12 ~ I used my 20% off sale items on Sephora for a set of dry shampoos (staple item, not coming out of this budget) a

Makeup Inventory 2019

It's that time of year again, when I take everything out of its' storage on my desk and in various purses and toss it all in one place for the purpose of shaming myself and sharing it with the internet. I couldn't decide if  wanted to start or end with what I like to refer to as the "Dragon Pile" - everything shoved in a giant pile all together, much like a dragon's collection of hoarded treasure - and I think I'm going to end with it to pull this all together. I'll start with the most reasonably-sized category, and we'll move toward excess. ~ Eyeshadow primer - 1 - Bonus, it's a different one from last year since I used that one up. ~ Lip primer - 1 - Another product for which I feel like I only need one. ~ Contour - 1- I had this weird kick during which I was convinced that I had to  learn to contour and needed the perfect product. And then I bought a thing, and never got into it. So I'll keep it so I'm not tempted to buy

Pan Those Eyeshadows Project Pan - 2019 Finale

I know I've only been doing this project since April, but I'm going to wrap up my usage of at least these particular shadows. I'm not sure yet if I'll restart in January or if I'll do something totally different, so stay tuned. Here's how the remaining shadows look after one more month of use: 1. "Rose Quartz" from Anastasia Beverly Hills Sultry palette - I hit pan! 2. "Sin" from Urban Decay Naked palette - Still no pan; it would probably take me forever to hit pan on this. I really like it as an inner corner highlight, so I'm still using it. But unofficially. 3. "Light My World" a single from Sydney Grace - I have a significant dip in this, but no pan showing. Considering it's one of the newest shadows in my collection, I'm happy with that. 4. "Dione" a single from NARS - I don't think I had used this at all before putting it into the project, and now it at least looks used. Since I got it
