Finish 6 by Christmas - update #1

You can check out the intro post for a picture of the whole family (of products) together, but here's a quick refresher on my plan for this project:

1 ~ finish Bite "Pepper"
2 ~ hit pan on Colourpop "Fluffy"
3 ~ hit pan on "Bronx" in the ABH Master Palette by Mario
4 ~ finish Buxom "Dolly"
5 ~ finish L'Oreal eyeliner "highlight"
6 ~ finish Too Faced Hangover primer

1 ~ "Pepper" - I'm excited about the amount of progress I made on this one! It's easy to reapply and looks good even without a full face of makeup. I don't think I'll be done by the next update, but I'm hoping for a similar amount of progress.

2 ~ "Fluffy" - I can't see too much progress on this one, which is disappointing since I've been using this pretty much every day I do eye makeup. I have to be close, judging on the other Super Shock shadow I already have pan on. I'm hoping to have hit pan by next month.

3 ~ "Bronx" - Sorry for the terrible photo quality on this one - not much progress to see anyway. The eye look I've been gravitating towards this past month has been: Fluffy on the inner half of my lid with Bronx on the outer half. There's enough gold in this shade that they blend pretty well where they meet in the middle. I'm guessing pan by next month is unlikely, but I'm going to keep on going with this as best I can.

4 ~ "Dolly" - another good bit of progress! That's probably because it's so small, but I'll take it! It looks good over Pepper or by itself and it's not too sticky. I know last month I thought I could finish this, so maybe next month I can do it? I'll just be very glossy for a while.

5 ~ highlighting eyeliner - Sad, sad amount of progress. Look at how close those lines are. I only used it enough to have to sharpen it maybe once or twice. It also doesn't take that much progress to cover the inner corners of my eyes.

6 ~ Too Faced Hangover primer - There's no picture for this one since the packaging is opaque. I have to shake it before I use it now, so I'm thinking that I'm getting close to the end. I really hope I can move this out by the next update - I don't think it does a whole lot for me.

Healthy Habits Challenge - February 2020

I have the habit of spending too much of my money on makeup, and spending too much of my time browsing for makeup and consuming makeup-related media. To counteract this, I make myself "earn" my makeup budget by doing things that are better for my mental and physical health. Here's how I did for the month of February: Purchases: ~ I bought a birthday gift for a friend at Ulta - does not come out of budget ~ I repurchased my husband some dental floss (does not come out of this budget) at Sephora and got a Bobbi Brown lip gloss as a point perk - $0 ~ I purchased a full size of YSL Libre perfume since I loved the sample so much (giving myself grace on this purchase this month) and got the UD brow enhancer brow gel in "Brunette Betty" on sale (counts as a replacement since I destashed my other brow gel when it went bad) ~ ABH Jackie Aina palette - it was on sale at Sephora - I used a $20 gift card so I spent $14.10 Books read ($1 per 100 pages) ~ Cress  by M...

December Empties

I finished 7 products in December, including 1 makeup product instead of all skincare! ~ Clinique take the day off cleansing balm sephora sample: It was odorless, and just oily enough to efficiently remove my eye makeup and mascara. Bonus, it didn't irritate my eyes. I got the full size for Christmas, but I'm going to try to make some progress on my Pond's cream before I crack into it. ~ Peter Thomas Roth pumpkin enzyme mask sample: I got the pack of deluxe sizes to try, and this mask took so long to finish, I'd never buy a full size. It smelled just like a pumpkin treat, so I enjoyed using it up in the fall/winter. ~ Too Cool for School egg mellow cream lotion: I used this as my morning moisturizer. It had a faintly sweet-lemon scent, which I enjoyed. The pump was nice, but I didn't know how much I had left until I went to pump it and it was empty :( ~ Clinique Welcome Wednesday deluxe lipstick from Christmas 2015: finally! I loved the brown-pink color, bu...

A Rambly Intro

"Come on, girl! You only have one face!" It's what I tell myself when I start aimlessly shopping for makeup. In the last year, I developed a bit of a shopping addiction, specifically makeup shopping.Writing a blog is my effort to keep myself accountable to start focusing less on buying. I'm going to focus more on using, first and foremost, and then on adding thoughtfully to my makeup wardrobe. This blog is most likely going to be my online makeup-focused diary. I don't have that many people to discuss this with in real life. And somehow posting a blog feels more anonymous than posting on reddit. (If you're interested in any makeup/usage discussion, head to r/makeuprehab or r/muacjdiscussion - some of those subreddit themes will likely influence my ramblings.) Here's a bit what to expect from me: empties posts, reviews, and random thoughts. The word "haul" is dangerous for me, but I might occasionally talk about items I've purchased recent...
