Healthy Habits Challenge - March 2019

This is the monthly installment of how I "earn" my makeup budget by doing things that are better for me than consuming makeup and makeup-related media.

Purchases:
~ The Balm Batter Up eyeshadow stick "batter up" - $3 - as with most of my makeup purchases from Marshall's, I regret this already. Still trying to make it work.
~ Benefit brow bar service at Ulta - This is a beauty service, and thus not included since it's not an area I tend to go crazy with.
~ Too Faced Peach Perfect duo - $32 (I used a $10 gift card) - This comes with the full sizes of the peach perfect primer and the peach setting spray. I've tried both and have said I'd repurchase both so this was a good deal for me. There was also a decent GWP code and 8% back on Ebates, so I'll take it.
~ ABH brow wiz (from Ulta 21 Days of Beauty) - $10.50 - I also bought another Clinique "Take the Day Off" cleansing balm, but since that's a replacement it won't come from this budget.
~ Buxom lipgloss "Kir Royale" - $11 at Ulta 21 days of beauty

Books read ($1 per 100 pages)
Tower of Dawn by Sarah J Maas - 662 pages ($6.62)
~ Circe by Madeline Miller - 334 pages ($3.34)
~ Big Little Lies by Liane Moriarty - 465 pages ($4.65)
~ Mrs Fletcher by Tom Perrotta - 337 pages ($3.37)

Exercise ($5 per workout video, from the BeachBody line of workout videos)

~ 3/5/19 - 1h walk - $5

~ 3/30/19 - LIIFT4 - Week4, Day2 - $5
~ 3/31/19 - 1h walk - $5

Money available to spend: $71.64

No-buy update - As you may have noticed, the no-buy went by the wayside. BUT I have been able to stick to this "earning my budget" system better than in the past. I waited to buy the "Peach Perfect Duo" until I had earned the money, when in the past I would buy it when I wanted it because I knew I would earn the money for it eventually. I bought a few springtime/Easter decorations for the house, but I haven't gone crazy. While it would have been cool to stay aboard the no-buy train, I think my spending is pretty balanced at the moment. With the exception of how much I spend on food, both at the grocery store and eating out (but that's another work in progress).

November 2017 Empties

I'm happy with my skincare progress this past month. My system for using up perfume samples is also still going well, even though the darn things keep coming in. Per usual, here's a picture to be followed by mini-reviews and thoughts: ~ Stella McCartney sample card - I remember this as being a nice floral. Something I would use a sample of, but not necessarily buy. ~ J'Adore by Dior sample card - this smells like perfume to me. I couldn't really discern any specific notes. That said, it smells nice. I probably would not purchase this, partly because it doesn't come in a rollerball. ~ Elizabeth & James Nirvana Amethyst sample - The tobacco flower notes made me smell a bit like a smoker. A powdery smoker. Would not purchase. ~ Josie Maran finishing balm - will discuss in project pan update ~ Urban Decay "Stark Naked" - will discuss in project pan update ~ Maybelline FitMe concealer in 15/fair - This grew on me. It looks a bit too warm right of...

December Empties

I finished 7 products in December, including 1 makeup product instead of all skincare! ~ Clinique take the day off cleansing balm sephora sample: It was odorless, and just oily enough to efficiently remove my eye makeup and mascara. Bonus, it didn't irritate my eyes. I got the full size for Christmas, but I'm going to try to make some progress on my Pond's cream before I crack into it. ~ Peter Thomas Roth pumpkin enzyme mask sample: I got the pack of deluxe sizes to try, and this mask took so long to finish, I'd never buy a full size. It smelled just like a pumpkin treat, so I enjoyed using it up in the fall/winter. ~ Too Cool for School egg mellow cream lotion: I used this as my morning moisturizer. It had a faintly sweet-lemon scent, which I enjoyed. The pump was nice, but I didn't know how much I had left until I went to pump it and it was empty :( ~ Clinique Welcome Wednesday deluxe lipstick from Christmas 2015: finally! I loved the brown-pink color, bu...

Empties - June 2019

This past month, I came for my skincare foil samples with a vengeance. So this empties is, as always, mostly skincare with a little bit of makeup and haircare. ~ Exuviance performance peel - This is a two step kind of deal with an activated pad and a neutralizer pad. This sample contained one use, and I didn't see much of a change. I'm also in my 20s and am probably not the target audience. Wouldn't repurchase at this time. ~ boscia Clarifying Detox mask - Clay mask that dries on your face - meh. My skin felt maybe a little cleaner, but no other improvements. It was nice to use, but I probably wouldn't buy this again. I bought it at TJ Maxx a while ago, so goodness knows how old it is. ~ Mango Coconut Guava lotion - I have two sets of mini lotions like this from my family. So you can expect to see more little bottles like this. It smelled nice and has a thin texture, which is nice for the summer. I have seven more of these, so no need to repurchase anything righ...
