Empties - August 2019

I'm kind of disappointed in how little I was able to move out this past month. I'm guessing it's because I'm finally out of foil packets and now I have to use up deluxe and full sizes of products.

~ Nest "ocean mist & coconut water" perfume sample - I loved this. It smelled like grapefruit and coconuts. If I hadn't tried it at the tail end of summer I would have been sorely tempted to purchase it. I still have another sample, so I'll revisit next year and see it I still feel the same.
~ Tory Burch perfume sample - This was one of those fresh & clean type scents that pull very sharp on me, and I wasn't a fan. Would not purchase.
~ GrandeLips hydrating lip plumper mini - Finished in my "5 by Fall" project pan, and I discuss it in that post.
~ Murad retinol youth renewal serum - I found that this did have some smoothing effects on my skin, and I enjoyed having it in my nighttime routine. This is pretty expensive so I don't know if I would repurchase.
~ Sunday Riley A+ retinoid serum - I enjoyed this about the same as the Murad one, but what I'm using now (Estee Lauder advanced night repair) seems to have had a better effect on my skin. So now I'm not too sure about this one either.
~ Laneige water sleeping mask - I used this as a light gel moisturizer rather than a sleeping mask, and I liked it for that purpose. I prefer other gel moisturizers to this one, so I wouldn't purchase a full size. I do still have another mini like this, and I'll happily use it up.
~ Cover FX setting powder - Finished in "5 by Fall" project
~ L'Oreal Magic lumi concealer pen - Finished in "5 by Fall" project
~ Island Soap Candle Works "Creamy Coconut" lotion - This is the third or fourth of these I've used up, so y'all already know. I liked it, and I still have a bunch left since I got a few sets as gifts. Might take a break since I'm getting ready for fall scents.

I've been working on finishing up a few of my makeup products, not as part of a project pan, just intentionally not rotating some products. I'm hoping I can start moving out some full sized products in the near future!

Healthy Habits Challenge - February 2020

I have the habit of spending too much of my money on makeup, and spending too much of my time browsing for makeup and consuming makeup-related media. To counteract this, I make myself "earn" my makeup budget by doing things that are better for my mental and physical health. Here's how I did for the month of February: Purchases: ~ I bought a birthday gift for a friend at Ulta - does not come out of budget ~ I repurchased my husband some dental floss (does not come out of this budget) at Sephora and got a Bobbi Brown lip gloss as a point perk - $0 ~ I purchased a full size of YSL Libre perfume since I loved the sample so much (giving myself grace on this purchase this month) and got the UD brow enhancer brow gel in "Brunette Betty" on sale (counts as a replacement since I destashed my other brow gel when it went bad) ~ ABH Jackie Aina palette - it was on sale at Sephora - I used a $20 gift card so I spent $14.10 Books read ($1 per 100 pages) ~ Cress  by M...

December Empties

I finished 7 products in December, including 1 makeup product instead of all skincare! ~ Clinique take the day off cleansing balm sephora sample: It was odorless, and just oily enough to efficiently remove my eye makeup and mascara. Bonus, it didn't irritate my eyes. I got the full size for Christmas, but I'm going to try to make some progress on my Pond's cream before I crack into it. ~ Peter Thomas Roth pumpkin enzyme mask sample: I got the pack of deluxe sizes to try, and this mask took so long to finish, I'd never buy a full size. It smelled just like a pumpkin treat, so I enjoyed using it up in the fall/winter. ~ Too Cool for School egg mellow cream lotion: I used this as my morning moisturizer. It had a faintly sweet-lemon scent, which I enjoyed. The pump was nice, but I didn't know how much I had left until I went to pump it and it was empty :( ~ Clinique Welcome Wednesday deluxe lipstick from Christmas 2015: finally! I loved the brown-pink color, bu...

A Rambly Intro

"Come on, girl! You only have one face!" It's what I tell myself when I start aimlessly shopping for makeup. In the last year, I developed a bit of a shopping addiction, specifically makeup shopping.Writing a blog is my effort to keep myself accountable to start focusing less on buying. I'm going to focus more on using, first and foremost, and then on adding thoughtfully to my makeup wardrobe. This blog is most likely going to be my online makeup-focused diary. I don't have that many people to discuss this with in real life. And somehow posting a blog feels more anonymous than posting on reddit. (If you're interested in any makeup/usage discussion, head to r/makeuprehab or r/muacjdiscussion - some of those subreddit themes will likely influence my ramblings.) Here's a bit what to expect from me: empties posts, reviews, and random thoughts. The word "haul" is dangerous for me, but I might occasionally talk about items I've purchased recent...
