Pan Those Eyeshadows project pan - November 2019 update

This project is part of my effort to get visible progress out of my makeup. I randomly selected five shadows to start, and as soon as I reach my goal (usually hitting pan), I can rotate in a different randomly-selected shadow. Here's how I did over the past month:

1) "Sin" from Urban Decay Naked palette - Still here, trucking along. I can't see a ton of progress on this, but I'm still using it every time I do my eye makeup as my inner corner highlight.

2) "Rose Quartz" from Anastasia Beverly Hills Sultry palette - I feel like I've been super close to hitting pan on this for a while. Since I've been using my fingers to apply, I've made a wider dip more than a deep one, so hopefully I'll be able to hit pan this upcoming month.

3&4) "Light My World" (right) & "Wildlife" (left) singles by Sydney Grace - I'm still loving "Light My World" both over a green base and by itself. I can only really wear this on days I don't go to work, so I'm making slower progress. I said last month that I'd feel out "Wildlife" since it's a newer shade in my collection. Verdict: it's pretty patchy and I don't enjoy it that much. I won't keep this in the project, and something new will roll in to replace it.

5) "Dione" single by NARS - This applies as a sheer taupe, and has been a good work color. I'm happy to keep using this, but I suspect it will take a long time to actually hit pan.

Since I'm not continuing to use "Wildlife" I get to roll in another randomly-selected shadow. Drumroll, please...

"Heavy Water" from Urban Decay Elements palette. I've been hoping I would get a shade from this palette, and of course it would be the teal. This might be another one-month wonder, but I'm looking forward to playing with this one.

Here's what I'll be working with during the next month
(left-right) "Light My World," "Rose Quartz," "Sin," "Dione," and "Heavy Water"

Goals for the next month:
hit pan on "Rose Quartz"
don't be afraid of blue eyeshadow

Healthy Habits Challenge - February 2020

I have the habit of spending too much of my money on makeup, and spending too much of my time browsing for makeup and consuming makeup-related media. To counteract this, I make myself "earn" my makeup budget by doing things that are better for my mental and physical health. Here's how I did for the month of February: Purchases: ~ I bought a birthday gift for a friend at Ulta - does not come out of budget ~ I repurchased my husband some dental floss (does not come out of this budget) at Sephora and got a Bobbi Brown lip gloss as a point perk - $0 ~ I purchased a full size of YSL Libre perfume since I loved the sample so much (giving myself grace on this purchase this month) and got the UD brow enhancer brow gel in "Brunette Betty" on sale (counts as a replacement since I destashed my other brow gel when it went bad) ~ ABH Jackie Aina palette - it was on sale at Sephora - I used a $20 gift card so I spent $14.10 Books read ($1 per 100 pages) ~ Cress  by M...

December Empties

I finished 7 products in December, including 1 makeup product instead of all skincare! ~ Clinique take the day off cleansing balm sephora sample: It was odorless, and just oily enough to efficiently remove my eye makeup and mascara. Bonus, it didn't irritate my eyes. I got the full size for Christmas, but I'm going to try to make some progress on my Pond's cream before I crack into it. ~ Peter Thomas Roth pumpkin enzyme mask sample: I got the pack of deluxe sizes to try, and this mask took so long to finish, I'd never buy a full size. It smelled just like a pumpkin treat, so I enjoyed using it up in the fall/winter. ~ Too Cool for School egg mellow cream lotion: I used this as my morning moisturizer. It had a faintly sweet-lemon scent, which I enjoyed. The pump was nice, but I didn't know how much I had left until I went to pump it and it was empty :( ~ Clinique Welcome Wednesday deluxe lipstick from Christmas 2015: finally! I loved the brown-pink color, bu...

A Rambly Intro

"Come on, girl! You only have one face!" It's what I tell myself when I start aimlessly shopping for makeup. In the last year, I developed a bit of a shopping addiction, specifically makeup shopping.Writing a blog is my effort to keep myself accountable to start focusing less on buying. I'm going to focus more on using, first and foremost, and then on adding thoughtfully to my makeup wardrobe. This blog is most likely going to be my online makeup-focused diary. I don't have that many people to discuss this with in real life. And somehow posting a blog feels more anonymous than posting on reddit. (If you're interested in any makeup/usage discussion, head to r/makeuprehab or r/muacjdiscussion - some of those subreddit themes will likely influence my ramblings.) Here's a bit what to expect from me: empties posts, reviews, and random thoughts. The word "haul" is dangerous for me, but I might occasionally talk about items I've purchased recent...
