5 by Fall Project Pan 2019 - Update #2

Spoiler alert: I finished all the products I anticipated I could finish. I'm happy to see some extra progress on my remaining items as well. I decided not to make this a rolling project - I'm just going to enjoy focusing on the products I want when I want to see some natural progress before I start focusing on fall products in a month.

1) Stila Glitter&Glow "Smoldering Satin" - I've been wearing this at least once a week, sometimes twice a week. So I've been glittery at the grocery store, at the gym, and at home with my cat. But I'm using it. The window on the side it getting a bit larger, but it's a bit hard to see progress for sure. This won't be done by the end of the project, but I'm hoping for a bit more progress.

2) Grande Lips hydrating lip plumper mini - Finished! There's still a little bit left at the bottom, but I can't pick it up with the doe foot and I can't get the stopper out. I can't see myself repurchasing this item, so I'm glad I used it up and can move it out of my collection.

3) NARS velvet matte lip pencil "Let's Go Crazy" - Let me tell you, wearing this lip in combination with the glitter is indeed going crazy. At least for me and my lifestyle. I've resisted the temptation to sharpen this a bunch every day, so the progress you can see is from use (for the most part - I don't like feeling like my lips are scraping against the pencil wood so I sharpen it maybe a little more than is strictly necessary). Like the glitter, this also won't be done by the end of the project. I've also been missing my other lip products, so I anticipate seeing less progress on this.

4) L'Oreal magic lumi concealer/highlighter "fair" - Finished! This wont' twist up any more, so that little bit of product up at the top just gonna stay there. I liked this as a light concealer, but I can't see myself picking it up again any time soon because I don't like the twist-up-into-a-brush style of application.

5) Cover FX perfect setting powder "translucent light" - Finished! This powder was okay. I could see myself repurchasing this only if I were out of powder and it was on sale. It's in the Ulta 21 Days of Beauty a lot, so that's actually feasible.

If all goes according to plan, the next update should be short, sweet, and full of progress. I doubt I'll finish either item remaining, but I'm happy to have more use on some of the bolder items in my collection.

Healthy Habits Challenge - February 2020

I have the habit of spending too much of my money on makeup, and spending too much of my time browsing for makeup and consuming makeup-related media. To counteract this, I make myself "earn" my makeup budget by doing things that are better for my mental and physical health. Here's how I did for the month of February: Purchases: ~ I bought a birthday gift for a friend at Ulta - does not come out of budget ~ I repurchased my husband some dental floss (does not come out of this budget) at Sephora and got a Bobbi Brown lip gloss as a point perk - $0 ~ I purchased a full size of YSL Libre perfume since I loved the sample so much (giving myself grace on this purchase this month) and got the UD brow enhancer brow gel in "Brunette Betty" on sale (counts as a replacement since I destashed my other brow gel when it went bad) ~ ABH Jackie Aina palette - it was on sale at Sephora - I used a $20 gift card so I spent $14.10 Books read ($1 per 100 pages) ~ Cress  by M...

December Empties

I finished 7 products in December, including 1 makeup product instead of all skincare! ~ Clinique take the day off cleansing balm sephora sample: It was odorless, and just oily enough to efficiently remove my eye makeup and mascara. Bonus, it didn't irritate my eyes. I got the full size for Christmas, but I'm going to try to make some progress on my Pond's cream before I crack into it. ~ Peter Thomas Roth pumpkin enzyme mask sample: I got the pack of deluxe sizes to try, and this mask took so long to finish, I'd never buy a full size. It smelled just like a pumpkin treat, so I enjoyed using it up in the fall/winter. ~ Too Cool for School egg mellow cream lotion: I used this as my morning moisturizer. It had a faintly sweet-lemon scent, which I enjoyed. The pump was nice, but I didn't know how much I had left until I went to pump it and it was empty :( ~ Clinique Welcome Wednesday deluxe lipstick from Christmas 2015: finally! I loved the brown-pink color, bu...

A Rambly Intro

"Come on, girl! You only have one face!" It's what I tell myself when I start aimlessly shopping for makeup. In the last year, I developed a bit of a shopping addiction, specifically makeup shopping.Writing a blog is my effort to keep myself accountable to start focusing less on buying. I'm going to focus more on using, first and foremost, and then on adding thoughtfully to my makeup wardrobe. This blog is most likely going to be my online makeup-focused diary. I don't have that many people to discuss this with in real life. And somehow posting a blog feels more anonymous than posting on reddit. (If you're interested in any makeup/usage discussion, head to r/makeuprehab or r/muacjdiscussion - some of those subreddit themes will likely influence my ramblings.) Here's a bit what to expect from me: empties posts, reviews, and random thoughts. The word "haul" is dangerous for me, but I might occasionally talk about items I've purchased recent...
