Pan Those Eyeshadows Project Pan - October 2019 update

This project is part of my effort to get visible progress out of my makeup. I randomly selected five shadows to start, and as soon as I reach my goal (usually hitting pan), I can rotate in a different randomly-selected shadow. Here's how I did over the past month:

1&2) "Sin" and "Naked" from Urban Decay Naked palette - I finally hit pan on "Naked" after about six months of using it every time I did my makeup. It's a small pan, but it counts. I'm still making slow progress on "Sin" since I use it only as an inner corner highlight. It's too light to be used as a lid shade, so I'm just really sparkly at my inner corners. I think this will be in the project for a few more months at least.

3) "Chauffeur" from Colourpop Yes Please palette - I decluttered this palette entirely, so I didn't take a picture. Wave goodbye.

4) "Rose Quartz" from Anastasia Beverly Hills Sultry palette - You can tell from the picture that there's a decent dip in it. I've been applying it with my fingers (I know, who am I?) since there's better color payoff that way. I would like to have pan on this by the next update.

5) "Light My World" single by Sydney Grace - I really enjoyed using this shadow. It looks gold in the pan, but shows up on the eye with more of a green shift and I love green-gold looks (well, all the time but especially) during Fall. I initially thought I would only keep this one in for a month, but I'd like to keep using it so I'll add it to the project officially.

Since I hit pan on one shade and decluttered another, I'm rolling in two more shadows for the upcoming month.

~ "Wildlife" a single by Sydney Grace - It's pictured above next to "Light My World." Since it, too, is one of the newer products in my collection, I'm only going to add it until the next update so I can get some use out of it without spending too much time on it (unless I want to).

~ "Dione" a single by NARS - I bought this at Marshall's after this line was discontinued. As you can see, it has not been used that much. I just have a hard time reaching for single shadows.

Here's the color group I'll be working with for the next month:
(L-R) Sin, Rose Quartz, Light My World, Wildlife, Dione

Goal recap:
~ hit pan on "Rose Quartz"
~ make visible dent in "Dione"
~ use "Wildlife" enough to make it look used

Healthy Habits Challenge - February 2020

I have the habit of spending too much of my money on makeup, and spending too much of my time browsing for makeup and consuming makeup-related media. To counteract this, I make myself "earn" my makeup budget by doing things that are better for my mental and physical health. Here's how I did for the month of February: Purchases: ~ I bought a birthday gift for a friend at Ulta - does not come out of budget ~ I repurchased my husband some dental floss (does not come out of this budget) at Sephora and got a Bobbi Brown lip gloss as a point perk - $0 ~ I purchased a full size of YSL Libre perfume since I loved the sample so much (giving myself grace on this purchase this month) and got the UD brow enhancer brow gel in "Brunette Betty" on sale (counts as a replacement since I destashed my other brow gel when it went bad) ~ ABH Jackie Aina palette - it was on sale at Sephora - I used a $20 gift card so I spent $14.10 Books read ($1 per 100 pages) ~ Cress  by M...

December Empties

I finished 7 products in December, including 1 makeup product instead of all skincare! ~ Clinique take the day off cleansing balm sephora sample: It was odorless, and just oily enough to efficiently remove my eye makeup and mascara. Bonus, it didn't irritate my eyes. I got the full size for Christmas, but I'm going to try to make some progress on my Pond's cream before I crack into it. ~ Peter Thomas Roth pumpkin enzyme mask sample: I got the pack of deluxe sizes to try, and this mask took so long to finish, I'd never buy a full size. It smelled just like a pumpkin treat, so I enjoyed using it up in the fall/winter. ~ Too Cool for School egg mellow cream lotion: I used this as my morning moisturizer. It had a faintly sweet-lemon scent, which I enjoyed. The pump was nice, but I didn't know how much I had left until I went to pump it and it was empty :( ~ Clinique Welcome Wednesday deluxe lipstick from Christmas 2015: finally! I loved the brown-pink color, bu...

A Rambly Intro

"Come on, girl! You only have one face!" It's what I tell myself when I start aimlessly shopping for makeup. In the last year, I developed a bit of a shopping addiction, specifically makeup shopping.Writing a blog is my effort to keep myself accountable to start focusing less on buying. I'm going to focus more on using, first and foremost, and then on adding thoughtfully to my makeup wardrobe. This blog is most likely going to be my online makeup-focused diary. I don't have that many people to discuss this with in real life. And somehow posting a blog feels more anonymous than posting on reddit. (If you're interested in any makeup/usage discussion, head to r/makeuprehab or r/muacjdiscussion - some of those subreddit themes will likely influence my ramblings.) Here's a bit what to expect from me: empties posts, reviews, and random thoughts. The word "haul" is dangerous for me, but I might occasionally talk about items I've purchased recent...
