Weekly Makeup Basket - January 13, 2019

This is apparently palette week. And another project pan week. I'm hoping all the fun colors in this week's companion palette will get me out of the rose-gold rut I've been in.

Base products:
~ L'Oreal pro matte foundation "101 classic ivory"
~ NARS radiant creamy concealer "Vanilla"
~ Hourglass Veil Mineral primer foil
~ Urban Decay All Nighter setting spray

Face products:
~ NYX highlighter "Ritualistic"
~ Bite multistick "Gelato"
~ Hourglass Ambient Lighting edit volume 4 - using this for the bronzer and the setting powders. I'm honestly not sure if I know how to use these correctly. They're allegedly supposed to turn me into a beauty goddess, and I haven't seen that effect yet, but I'll keep you posted.

Eye products:
~ Tarte Tartelette in Bloom
~ Urban Decay Elements eyeshadow palette - it's been a hot minute since I've used this one. I feel a little silly buying it at full price when it first came out since it was on super sale by the end of the year. I'm happy to have it, but I totally could have waited. I like all the color choices and I don't need another colorful palette.
~ Lorac eye primer
~ Urban Decay waterline eyeliner "walk of shame"
~ L'Oreal eyeliner "highlight"
~ Jesse's Girl liquid eyeliner
~ Dior Diorshow Pump N Volume mascara

Brow products:
~ ABH brow wiz "Medium Brown"
~ Benefit Gimme Brow "03"

Lip products:
~ Rimmel lip liner "Wild Clover"
~ NARS Audacious lipstick "Anita"

Healthy Habits Challenge - February 2020

I have the habit of spending too much of my money on makeup, and spending too much of my time browsing for makeup and consuming makeup-related media. To counteract this, I make myself "earn" my makeup budget by doing things that are better for my mental and physical health. Here's how I did for the month of February: Purchases: ~ I bought a birthday gift for a friend at Ulta - does not come out of budget ~ I repurchased my husband some dental floss (does not come out of this budget) at Sephora and got a Bobbi Brown lip gloss as a point perk - $0 ~ I purchased a full size of YSL Libre perfume since I loved the sample so much (giving myself grace on this purchase this month) and got the UD brow enhancer brow gel in "Brunette Betty" on sale (counts as a replacement since I destashed my other brow gel when it went bad) ~ ABH Jackie Aina palette - it was on sale at Sephora - I used a $20 gift card so I spent $14.10 Books read ($1 per 100 pages) ~ Cress  by M...

December Empties

I finished 7 products in December, including 1 makeup product instead of all skincare! ~ Clinique take the day off cleansing balm sephora sample: It was odorless, and just oily enough to efficiently remove my eye makeup and mascara. Bonus, it didn't irritate my eyes. I got the full size for Christmas, but I'm going to try to make some progress on my Pond's cream before I crack into it. ~ Peter Thomas Roth pumpkin enzyme mask sample: I got the pack of deluxe sizes to try, and this mask took so long to finish, I'd never buy a full size. It smelled just like a pumpkin treat, so I enjoyed using it up in the fall/winter. ~ Too Cool for School egg mellow cream lotion: I used this as my morning moisturizer. It had a faintly sweet-lemon scent, which I enjoyed. The pump was nice, but I didn't know how much I had left until I went to pump it and it was empty :( ~ Clinique Welcome Wednesday deluxe lipstick from Christmas 2015: finally! I loved the brown-pink color, bu...

A Rambly Intro

"Come on, girl! You only have one face!" It's what I tell myself when I start aimlessly shopping for makeup. In the last year, I developed a bit of a shopping addiction, specifically makeup shopping.Writing a blog is my effort to keep myself accountable to start focusing less on buying. I'm going to focus more on using, first and foremost, and then on adding thoughtfully to my makeup wardrobe. This blog is most likely going to be my online makeup-focused diary. I don't have that many people to discuss this with in real life. And somehow posting a blog feels more anonymous than posting on reddit. (If you're interested in any makeup/usage discussion, head to r/makeuprehab or r/muacjdiscussion - some of those subreddit themes will likely influence my ramblings.) Here's a bit what to expect from me: empties posts, reviews, and random thoughts. The word "haul" is dangerous for me, but I might occasionally talk about items I've purchased recent...
