Fire & Ice Project Pan [Update #1]

The youtubers are uploading their updates, so here I am, tagging along for update #1! I think I had a pretty successful first month. I also used mostly deluxe sized samples, but eh, I'll take the morale boost. ~ Fire item: Firecracker from the Tartelette in Bloom palette. My goal for the first update was to wear down some of the lettering on it, and I made a decent-looking dent in the first few letters! I'm more of a stab my brush in one place until I see the pan kind of person rather than an even use kind of person, so I probably won't wear down the other letters. I've been wearing this as my lid shade for most of the days I wear makeup, so my next goal is to continue doing that. I suspect I might start to get sick of it, so hopefully I'll be able to keep going with it. ~ Ice item: Tarte smooth operator loose setting powder (deluxe sample size). My goal for this update was to be able to make another line to mark my progress. Unfortunately, the way I get the pro...

April Empties

I finished seven items during the month of April (well, six if you don't count the Sephora sample, but I do). I'll go clockwise from the perfume sample with the hot air balloon on it: ~ Replica perfume in "flying": this was a light citrusy, almost herbal scent. It smelled like going into a store at the mall that had an incense section. The sprayer on the sample was awesome. Other than that, would not purchase in a larger size (also it's hella expensive). ~ Fresh rose face mask foil sample: this feels nice on my face, not really sure if it did anything. If I got another sample, I would use it. I wouldn't seek out this product. ~ Drybar detox dry shampoo (sample from Sephora Play): this was very scented, like I could still smell it the next morning if I put it in at night kind of scented. And if I got it too close to my head, it left a white cast. I'm glad I got to try it, but I would not purchase it. ~ Glamglow youthmud (sample from Sephora Play): I ...

Fire & Ice Project Pan [Intro]

A couple of the Youtubers I watch (EyesOnAllison and Abby from MakeLifeYourRunway) are participating in this project, and I thought I'd join in. It's a four month long project pan with 4-6 products. One product has to be red, orange, or yellow for fire; another has to be blue, silver/grey, or white for ice. The rest of the items can be whatever you want. It started at the end of April and will go through the end of August. I'll try to update monthly - most likely, the youtube updates will remind me. ~ Fire item: hit pan on "Firecracker," the sparkly red-orange shade in the Tartelette in Bloom palette. TiB is my oldest eye shadow palette, so I'm trying to incorporate it into projects so I can get more use out of it. Picture below. ~ Ice item: use up Tarte Smooth Operator loose setting powder deluxe sample. I'm about halfway through now so I think I can finish it during this project. Picture below. ~ Dr Jart sunscreen deluxe sample (aim to ...

(very late) Empties from January, February, and March 2017

January Empties : This was the first month I cut things open to get the most out of them. It was worth it for the eye cream, but not really for the FAB face cream since it dried up so quickly. ~ Caudalie eye cream (sample from Sephora Play): I enjoyed this as much as I would enjoy any eye cream. It felt nice on my eyes and didn't have a scent. Too expensive to repurchase. ~ Fresh Soy face cleanser (Sephora birthday 2016 gift): this was super bland, and I didn't enjoy the cucumber scent. Would not purchase the full size. ~ First Aid Beauty face cream: again, pretty bland. It felt a little too heavy for use on my face during the day, but was decent for night time. Meh, would likely not purchase in the full size, but would use another sample. ~ Pixi eye makeup remover pads: I got these because Tati recommended them. They're supposed to encourage eyelash growth while they remove eye makeup. They didn't do the best job of removing, but I like having them for when I...

December Empties

I finished 7 products in December, including 1 makeup product instead of all skincare! ~ Clinique take the day off cleansing balm sephora sample: It was odorless, and just oily enough to efficiently remove my eye makeup and mascara. Bonus, it didn't irritate my eyes. I got the full size for Christmas, but I'm going to try to make some progress on my Pond's cream before I crack into it. ~ Peter Thomas Roth pumpkin enzyme mask sample: I got the pack of deluxe sizes to try, and this mask took so long to finish, I'd never buy a full size. It smelled just like a pumpkin treat, so I enjoyed using it up in the fall/winter. ~ Too Cool for School egg mellow cream lotion: I used this as my morning moisturizer. It had a faintly sweet-lemon scent, which I enjoyed. The pump was nice, but I didn't know how much I had left until I went to pump it and it was empty :( ~ Clinique Welcome Wednesday deluxe lipstick from Christmas 2015: finally! I loved the brown-pink color, bu...

November Empties (& 2 bonus pans!)

From top left: Ole Henriksen Sheer Transformation moisturizer (deluxe sample from Sephora Play): this was lightweight and didn't make me feel greasy. I would consider repurchasing this in the full size. Boscia charcoal sheet mask : it was relaxing to do a sheet mask. I guess my face felt softer afterwards? Might repurchase, but there are probably cheaper options out there. Elizabeth & James Nirvana bourbon sample: I love this scent. It's dark and sweet and kind of vanilla. I've already purchased a rollerball of this. Atelier cologne Sud Magnolia sample: this was nice at first. It's kind of an androgynous scent that was a little too strong for me after a while. I would not repurchase this in a larger size. Boscia makeup breakup cleansing oil sample: this was decent at taking off my eye makeup, but I wasn't a huge fan of the white cast it left over my eyes when it got in them. I probably would not purchase a larger size. Lancer face polish foil sample:...

Thoughts on October purchases

In the month of October, I got a little too excited about holiday releases and value sets. So I spent more than I had planned to. In an effort to think more critically about my makeup purchases, let's talk about what I bought. ~ A "Sephora Favorites" set in "Trending: Beauty's Most Coveted" - this had a variety of popular items sold at Sephora, which I was excited to try. It contained a nude BeautyBlender , which I currently enjoy using to blend out my under-eye concealer; a mini Becca highlighter in Moonstone that I love; a mini Benefit Ka-Brow in "3" a brown shade, I haven't used this yet; a mini Cover FX Enhance Click in Bubbly, that I also haven't used yet; a full size Estee Edit shadow stick in Viper, a smudgy black eyeliner I plan to give to my sister; a Foreo Luna Play that I really need to use, good reminder; a mini Glamglow Supermud , haven't used yet since I'm still working on other masks; a full size Kat Von D tatt...
